Biography: Louise Lague came to professional counseling after a career in journalism. For 18 years, she was an editor of PEOPLE magazine in New York City, writing two to three biographies a week, From this experience, she realized a passion for psychology , and earned her Masters degree from Fairfield University with a specialty in midlife issues. Since then, as  a behavioral journalist, she has written psychological help for Oprah, Glamour, Self, More, The New York Times, the AARP magazine, and the Dr. Phil Newsletter.

Lague worked with victims of domestic violence during her professional internship , and after moving to Portland in 2005, worked with court-mandated abusive men and couples suffering from domestic abuse. She has worked as an adjunct profssor at Lewis and Clark's Graduate School of Education, training students to counsel midlife women. She is the author of The Working Mom's Book of Hints, Tips, and Everyday Wisdom and the forthcoming Baggage Handling: Lightening Your Load for the Second Half of Life.
